Real mailbox vs forwarding, getting into webmail, storage, daily caps and what happens if you downgrade
Full guideFree professional email with your nameAn address with your name for your CV, clients and applications, without buying a domain. How to receive for free, how to send from it with Gmail and which plan you need.Full guideForwarding or mailbox: setting up email on your subdomainHow to set up a forward or a mailbox on your subdomain, step by step. What each one can do, its limits and which one suits you.A forward stores nothing, the mail that arrives at you@word.does.software goes out to your usual inbox, and you reply from that other address. A real mailbox is an actual email account on your name, the mail stays here, you get in over webmail or IMAP, and you send from you@word.does.software.
Forwarding is on every plan, the real mailbox comes with the Starter or the Pro plan. You can have both on the same subdomain, even with the same name before the @, and if a mailbox exists the mailbox wins and the forward for that address will stop applying.
From the mailbox tab of the subdomain, you pick the name before the @ and a password. That password is the mail one, for the webmail and for IMAP, and it isn't your does.software account password. We can't see it, so if you lose it you'll have to set a new one from the panel.
Starter includes 1 mailbox and Pro 3 per subdomain, so across the 3 names the Pro plan allows you can get to 9. A free account has none.
Subdomains › Configure subdomain › Mailbox
From the panel, a button will open the webmail with the address already filled in, you just put in the mailbox password. If you'd rather use your usual client, it works over IMAP, the username is the full address and the password is the same one.

1 GB on the Starter plan and 3 GB on the Pro plan. The panel will show you how much you've used, and when the mailbox fills up it will stop receiving mail until you free up space.
Subdomains › Configure subdomain › Mailbox
Neither the mailboxes nor the mail inside them will be deleted. The mailboxes your new plan doesn't cover will be paused, and if one takes up more than the plan allows it will stop receiving mail until you free up space.
When you move back up you'll find it exactly as you left it. A mailbox only really disappears if you delete it or if you delete the whole subdomain.
On the Starter plan, each mailbox will be able to send to 30 recipients and receive 250 emails a day. On the Pro plan, 150 and 1000. Every recipient counts, so an email to 5 people will be 5 sends.
If you hit the sending cap you'll have to wait a few hours. If you hit the receiving one the mail won't be lost, the server sending it will try again later.
