How to remove the does.software notice from your redirect
On the free plan your link shows a does.software screen for 3.5 s before redirecting. What it is, when it shows and how to remove it so it goes straight through.
Reviewed
If your subdomain is on the free plan, anyone who opens it will see a does.software screen for 3.5 seconds before reaching your site. Here you will see what it shows, when it does not appear and how to remove it.
What your visitor will see
A full-colour screen with your name, the does.software ad and a bar that will fill up in 3.5 seconds. It has a Go now button to skip it, so nobody will have to wait if they don't want to.
When it ends they will reach your destination with the path and query string intact, so your utm_ links will keep working and the visit will still count in your analytics.
When it shows and when it doesn't
It shows on personal subdomains on the free plan. It does not show during the 14-day trial, on the Starter plan, on the Pro plan or on school group projects. On those plans it starts off, and you can switch it on yourself from the subdomain settings if you want. If the trial or the plan ends, it will come back on and be locked.
How to remove it
The notice comes with the plan, so you remove it by picking a paid one.
Sign in to your panel and open your subdomain.
Go to Settings, to the Notice before redirecting section.
Press Remove the notice and pick the Starter plan or the Pro plan. Stripe will handle the payment.
In under a minute your visitors will go straight to your site.
Why it matters for search engines and social
With the notice, your name first answers with one of our screens, so Google and the link previews in WhatsApp, Slack or LinkedIn will see does.software and not your site. Without it, the root will answer with a direct 301, the permanent redirect search engines read as a move, and the preview will show your own site.
If you use the link on your CV or in your bio, 3.5 seconds won't change much. If you share it often or want your destination to rank, it is worth removing.
On the free plan your link will go through a does.software screen for 3.5 s. With the Starter plan, from €2.56 a month, or the Pro plan, it will go straight through with a 301.
